Risk Group IDs are unique identifiers used by SchemeServe to identify individual Risk Groups. They are especially important when working with commission, rating files, APIs, and cloned products.
1. Risk Group IDs are completely unique
Every Risk Group ID is globally unique. This means the same Risk Group ID will not be shared by another Risk Group, even across different SchemeServe sites.
2. Risk Group IDs are used when setting commission
SchemeServe uses Risk Group IDs to identify the Risk Group that commission applies to. This makes the ID important when configuring commission matrices and any related rating or integration logic.
3. Risk Group IDs are not included in Question Set JSON exports
When you export a Question Set from the Question Set Editor, the Risk Group IDs are not included in the exported JSON.
The Risk Group ID belongs only to the Risk Group in the original Question Set. If you export that Question Set and import it elsewhere, the imported Risk Groups should receive their own unique IDs rather than sharing the IDs from the original Question Set.
Original Question Set → Risk Group ID 12345Export and import elsewhere → New Risk Group ID 67890
4. You can view Risk Group IDs in the Question Set Editor
You can find a Risk Group ID from several areas within the Question Set Editor, including the API view, JSON preview, and the main Question Set Editor interface where the Risk Groups are shown.
5. You can also find the ID from the commission matrix
If you need to identify a Risk Group ID from a commission matrix, you can inspect the commission field using your browser's developer tools.
Right-click the relevant commission field, select Inspect, and look at the HTML for the field. The Risk Group ID will be included in the element information.
Right-click commission field → Inspect → Locate the Risk Group ID6. Check Risk Group IDs after cloning a product
When a product is cloned, the Risk Groups in the cloned product have their own unique IDs. Any configuration that references the original Risk Group IDs will therefore need to be reviewed and updated.
This is particularly important for rating files, but you should check anywhere else that a Risk Group ID has been referenced directly.
Key point
Treat a Risk Group ID as a unique technical identifier for one specific Risk Group. It should not be copied or expected to remain the same when Question Sets are exported, imported, or products are cloned.
